Kalashnikov (AKM variant) Produced by Maddi Egypt
This Kalashnikov is a former conflict zone assault rifle that has been deactivated for the UK market. It is a Factory 54 built gun manufactured by the Maadi company for Engineering Industries in Cairo. During the early years of production Maadi was gifted Russian made receivers to start their production. The key personnel were trained in the Soviet Union and the plant was supervised by Russian manufacturers. This is one of those early examples, the receiver was manufactured in the Izhevsk arsenal Russia, and this was then exported to Egypt to be finished by Maadi. The Arabic writing on the side of the rear sight block reads "Egypt 7.62mm" The serial number is in Arabic with the Maadi proof mark over stamped with European numbers. At some point in its life the stock, pistol grip and gas tube cover has been swapped out with that of an Eat German MPIKMS.
The rile has been deactivated to the current EU specification. The change leaver moves and the magazine, top cover and return spring are removable. Supplied with Birmingham Proof House EU certificate.
